Who We Are

Having had no formal training at any art colleges, Mike’s journey towards the sculpture and garden art he now creates has not been a conventional one.

Growing up the son of a pig farmer, on leaving school he went to work at Davidstow creamery, (home of the famous Cathedral City cheese) after 5 years he took voluntary redundancy and took a sales position selling dairy chemicals and milking parlour spares, travelling around Cornwall. Three years later he started his own company doing the same, growing the business over the next 20 years until selling it on to a larger competitor. During the work on milking parlours, he was involved in a lot of fabrication and steelwork, so this became the next business, manufacturing gates, railings, balconies, staircases etc. This presented opportunity for some decorative and creative pieces, something he had already been doing during the last 40 years in a small way, crafting and creating presents for friends and family. So, with growing interest from clients he has pursued this path, leading to sculptures, garden art and furniture and the diverse, eclectic range of commissions he now creates.
